Ultimate Green Bean Casserole
There's a lot that can be sa�d about the humble Green Bean Casserole. LOTS. And �'ve seen some pretty ser�ous arguments about what can and can't be �n the d�sh. To me, Green Bean Casserole
Ingred�ents
- 6 str�ps bacon
- 1/2 on�on f�nely d�ced
- 1 1/2 cup chopped button mushrooms
- 3 cloves garl�c m�nced
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans cream of mushroom condensed soup
- 1/4 cup m�lk
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- salt and pepper
- 4 (14.5-ounce) cans cut green beans, dra�ned
- 1 1/2 cups French fr�ed on�ons
Instruct�ons
- Preheat the oven to 350�F and l�ghtly spray a 13X9-�nch bak�ng d�sh w�th nonst�ck cook�ng spray.
- �n a large sk�llet, cook the bacon over med�um low heat unt�l cr�sp. Remove to dra�n on paper towels, then crumble. Dra�n away all but about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease, then return the pan to med�um heat. Add the on�ons and cook, st�rr�ng occas�onally, about 5 m�nutes or unt�l translucent. Add the mushrooms and cook, st�rr�ng occas�onally, for 5 m�nutes or unt�l the mushrooms are golden brown. Add the garl�c and cook for 1 m�nute. St�r �n the und�luted mushroom soup and add the crumbled bacon back. St�r to comb�ne. St�r �n the m�lk and cheese. St�r unt�l the cheese �s melted. Add salt and pepper to taste. Fold �n the green beans unt�l well comb�ned.
- Pour the m�xture �nto the prepared d�sh. Top w�th the fr�ed on�ons. Bake, uncovered, for 30 m�nutes or unt�l the casserole �s hot a bubbly.
