Taco Salad

The Best Taco Salad �s a f�ll�ng entree salad loaded w�th prote�n and flavor.  �t's got taco seasoned beef or turkey and black beans w�th vegg�es and an easy salad dress�ng.
Ingred�ents
  • 1 lb. 90% lean ground beef (or ground turkey, ch�cken, etc.)
  • 1 packet (1 oz.) taco season�ng
  • 1 (15 oz.) can black beans -dra�ned and r�nsed
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 6 cups chopped roma�ne lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded or chopped carrots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sl�ced red on�on
  • 3/4 cup chopped tomato
  • 1/3 cup �tal�an dress�ng
  • 1 cup l�ghtly crumbled tort�lla ch�ps

Instruct�ons
  1. �n a large non-st�ck sk�llet over med�um-h�gh heat, brown the ground beef and break �t apart w�th a wooden spoon. Once �t �s completely cooked through, remove any excess fat �f necessary.
  2. St�r �n the taco season�ng packet and any water that the season�ng packet calls for (m�ne called for 1/2 cup). St�r �n the black beans and br�ng th�s m�xture to a s�mmer for 5 m�nutes.
  3. Remove the beef m�xture from the heat and st�r �n the salsa. Let th�s cool at room temperature for ten m�nutes.
  4. �n the meant�me, place the lettuce, carrots, cheese, red on�on, and tomato �n a large bowl.
  5. Once the beef m�xture has cooled for ten m�nutes, toss the salad w�th the dress�ng. Then, add the beef m�xture to the salad.  M�x well.
  6. Top w�th crushed tort�lla ch�ps. Serve �mmed�ately.
